Our world is chaotic and dangerous. Everything began with a highly infectious virus caused by a lack of scientific control. The virus spreads quickly and transforms many people into aggressive infected fungus-shaped creatures through bites. When these creatures die, their bodies turn into common plants. However, not everyone was affected in the same way. Some humans mutated and adapted to the new conditions, becoming stronger and able to survive in this hostile environment, while others remained as non-mutated and being extremely vulnerable. After the collapse of the society, infrastructures were abandoned and the pollution increased. This caused severe climate change, toxic air and extreme weather conditions. As a result, the world is divided into three main areas/zones. The city is the most dangerous area. It is cold, constantly rainy and heavily contaminated. The air is toxic, and gravity is lower due to the impact of a fragment of the Moon near there. Streets and sewers are flooded, with low electricity and infected creatures are everywhere. Only mutated humans can survive in this zone for long periods of time. Farther from the city lies a rocky area that serves as a refuge for non-mutated humans that are in bunkers. Although it is safer, the air is still contaminated, so it’s necessary to wear masks. People can barely survive there, they must be careful. Finally, the mountains are the safest zone and where the mutated humans live. The air is cleaner, gravity is more stable and the climate is less extreme. Water and food are easier to find, and usually infected creatures do not appear. This zone represents the best chance for survival in this broken world.
